This design represents the historical 150 year old Banyan Tree of Lāhainā. The Banyan tree is now one of many symbols of the Strength and Fortitude that our Lāhainā people carry with them during this long journey. The Roots of the Banyan tree represent the unwaivering depth of the foundation of our Lāhainā community that keep our Lāhainā people rooted in ways and traditions that will one day flourish again within time. This Lāhainā Rōōtz design is a symbol of Keeping Lāhainā Lands and Traditions in the Hands of our Beloved Lāhainā People by offering help (Kōkua) and care (Mālama) to everyone in our Lāhainā community by working along side them as they rebuild, starting from the Rōōtz from which they have come, through the years ahead. We humbly thank you for wearing this shirt as a symbol of respect, love and support to Kāko'o (uplift) our Lāhainā people during this long journey.
